Support Groups

The following is the schedule of support groups for 2007.  Please call Hospice of Holland at 616.396.2972 to register prior to attending a group. *All evening groups now meet from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and include a light dinner.

Understanding Grief
An educational seminar designed to assist adults in understanding and coping with the grief process.

*Meets for two Thursdays from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
September sessions: Sept. 6 and 13
November sessions: Nov. 1 and 8

Going Solo
An ongoing support group for anyone who has experienced the death of a spouse.

Meets the first and third Thursday of each month from 10:30 a.m. to noon

Adult Children
A group for adults who are grieving the loss of a parent.

*Meets for four Thursdays from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
September sessions: Sept. 6, 13, 20 and 27
November sessions: Nov. 1, 8, 15 and 29

Young Partners
For those who have experienced the death of a spouse or partner at a young age. Supervision and activities are available for children during the group.

*Meets first Thursday of each month from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
 

Kids Grieve Too
Death and Dying are often difficult for children to understand.  This group offers age-appropriate activities to assist children in understanding and coping with the loss of a loved one or friend. Meeting in the The Loft, our center designed for children and teens, children can experience privacy and comfort while sharing their stories of grief and loss.

Teenage Grief Support
Caught between childhood and adulthood, teens can be left with a wide range of emotions and concerns when a friend or loved one dies.  This program can help teenagers understand and cope with the loss of a loved one.

Camp Hope
An afternoon camp for grieving children.  Music, writing, art and movement are used to help children explore and heal their grief.

Meets August 6, 7, 8, and 9 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

All of these free programs are led by trained Hospice Counseling professionals who are experienced in caregiving to people with advanced illness and bereavement needs.  All programs meet at Hospice of Holland, 270 Hoover Blvd., Holland, unless otherwise indicated.
