Camp Hope

A Four-Day Bereavement Day Camp for Children and Teens
Camp Hope is a four-day bereavement day camp for children, ages 6-13, who have experienced the death of a family member, friend or loved one.  Interacting with peers who have experienced similar losses, children and teens will have the opportunity to express their feelings of grief, learn coping skills and begin a healthy healing process.

Hospice of Holland now offers a new space for grieving children and teens in our community.  Staffed by Hospice of Holland Bereavement Professionals, The Loft is the site of our four-day camp.  A suggested donation of $10.00 for a single child or $20.00 per family is appreciated.  This year, camp will be held August 4, 5, 6 and 7 from 1:00 - 4:00 pm.

Please call Kathy Miedema at 616.396.2972 for further information and to request an informational packet.  Enrollment is limited and registration much be submitted by early August.  Check back for more details.

Camp Hope believes...
- Grief is a normal response to the death of a loved one.
- Children grieve as intensely as adults, but in different ways.
- It is essential for the healthy development of a child to grieve a significant loss.
- Healing from a painful loss is possible with support and acceptance.
- Children need support that is appropriate to their developmental stage.
