Where Hospice

Hospice of Holland is not a place, but rather, a special way of caring for patients and families facing end-of-life issues. This can be accomplished in a patient’s home, in an area care facility or in our Hospice House. No matter where the patient resides, the entire Hospice care team is available to the patient and family.

If the patient decides, and is able, to remain at home, Hospice of Holland can arrange for medication, supplies and equipment, related to the patient’s terminal illness, in order to make that possible. Patients and caregivers are also given the instruction and support that they need. A Registered Nurse visits at least once a week and other skilled nursing staff, counselors, and volunteers are available to help, if desired. Additionally, an on-call nurse is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week should any questions or concerns arise.

Patients residing in an area care facility receive the same quality care as our home-based patients. The hospice care teams have expertise in end-of-life care and they, in cooperation with the facility caregivers, work to provide the highest quality care to patients and families. Just as with home-based clients, a hospice Registered Nurse visits at least once a week and other skilled nursing staff, counselors and volunteers are available to help, if desired. And, as always, the on-call nurse is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to assist with any questions or concerns.
